Vivo v23 Pro Price in Saudi Arabia Jarir Bookstore

Vivo v23 Pro Price in Saudi Arabia - The Vivo V23 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC, a decent chipset with good performance and 5G support. This device has a 90Hz refresh rate display, a good camera and more. I have been using the Vivo V23 Pro for a few weeks and will share my experience with the device here.

The Vivo V23 Pro uses the MediaTek dimension 1200 SoC that we often see in low-priced phones such as the Poco F3 GT (review) and OnePlus Nord 2 (review). It is no longer the most competitive SoC in this segment. The V23 Pro has no storage expansion options, which may even be a dealbreaker for some. There is a dual nano SIM tray, and the phone supports a 5G radio with dual-5G standby. The phone also supports Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi ac and the usual satellite navigation system. It has a 4,300 mAh battery can be charged quickly using a bundled 44 W charger.

The V23 Pro is one of the first Vivo smartphones with Android 12. It still has Vivo's Funtouch OS 12 layer, and its design language is a mismatch against Google's content that you redesign. New widgets for drives, conversations, etc., feel out of place on the Home screen with their bold outlines and fonts. Vivo has tried to mix new privacy features, such as the privacy dashboard and permission manager, into Funtouch OS 12's Settings app, but these still need to be put in the right place when you access them.

While the two design sensitivities don't mix well, the Vivo V23 Pro does offer access to Android 12's privacy features. Small audio and video indicators pop up in the notification area when the microphone or camera is used. In addition to the content you have affected, there are still familiar animated Funtouch widgets (which have fallen below the original OS). The new notifications tray and quick settings menu don't look like the ones on a Google Pixel running stock Android 12. The powerful new search functionality is missing in the app drawer. Still, the Notification History makes it, and you can access it by scrolling to the bottom of the notification tray (after activating it in the settings).

Vivo has added a new game Space app, but it does nothing but shows how long you've played each game. After activating the Ultra Game Mode, you can access all the valuable options you expect via the slide-out menu in-Game.

Vivo V23 Pro price in India

Vivo V23 Pro is available in two variants. The base variant I got for this review has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and is priced at Rs.  38,990 in India. The top-end variant has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, priced at Rs.  43,990. Both are available in two finishes – Stardust black and Sunshine Gold.

Vivo v23 Pro Camera

50Mp dual selfie camera
108Mp triple rear camera

When assessing the camera, I usually start with the rear shooter, but for the V23 Pro, it only seems reasonable to go the other way.

So, on the front of the phone, you will find a pair of selfie cameras: a 50 MP, f/2.0 primary lens and an 8 MP, f/2.3 ultra-wide to go with it.

That primary lens is the star, and it is imposing.  The high-resolution sensor delivers crisp, clear shots in good light.  The f / 2.0 aperture is suitable for a selfie camera, but still not at the level you'd expect from the rear lens – which leaves the dynamic range slightly below what you might expect, causing some blown background, but overall it does impress.

The shame is that Vivo has not included the optical image stabilization (OIS) featured on last year's v21.  It was a selfie game-changer, and without it, the V23 Pro's setup feels more pedestrian, especially in low-light shots where OIS can enhance the experience with better clarity and dynamic range.

Vivo V23 Pro design

Vivo is no stranger to making even prettier phones out of its more affordable options, and the V23 Pro is one of the best-looking phones at its price point.

Despite the large display, the phone seems relatively small for a slim build – just 7.4 mm – and lightweight construction.  The curved edges for both the body and the display itself help the phone feel thinner than it is, resulting in a handset that is more comfortable than other phones with a similar size screen.

Although, you will probably notice the shiny rear of the phone before it reaches its size.  The V23 Pro is available in two colours, but Stardust Black is the second stringer of the Sunshine Gold version I'm testing.

This shiny golden finish somehow turns into some lighting to look like pure, bright turquoise.  We have seen phones that appear to shift and shimmer in the first light, but Vivo has taken it to the next level: specially treated glass is reactive to sunlight, so the colour will change and stay that way for a while.  You can also temporarily print that design if you leave some blocked part of the phone from the light.

It's a remarkable trick that makes the V23 Pro (and its simpler sibling, the V23, which shares the finish) unique in the phone market.  Of course, as is always the case with unusual designs, if you want to protect the phone with a case, it will not be a thing.

This is especially true because the jury is out on how powerful this is.  But Vivo has not implemented similar protection in the back of the phone, and there is also no IP rating for water resistance.

Vivo v23 Pro Software

  • Runs Vivo’s FuntouchOS skin
  • Android 12
  • No guaranteed number of updates
Vivo sits in an asymmetrical position when it comes to its Android software.  In 2020 it introduced the origin OS, its latest Android skin, but a year later, it became exclusive to China.  Instead, the rest of the world finds phones running the company's old software functions.

There is also variation here.  Phones shipped elsewhere in India and Asia come pre-installed with bloatware and ads, while European models are comparatively clean.

I'm reviewing one of those Asian handsets, and I find the pre-installed apps and ads frustrating-but it's worth saying there have been efforts to improve things, so I'd expect the phone to improve over time regard.

It helps that the phone already ships with Android 12, which boasts many new features and security upgrades.  Not everything is made through Vivo's side – no hint of the customizable 'content you' colour palette tool-but things like scrolling screenshots, alerts when the microphone and camera are in use, and the new privacy dashboard all appear here.

While Vivo has promised that its premium X-series flagships (including the recent X70 Pro and X70 Pro+) will receive three years of major Android versions and security updates, no such promise has yet been made for the V-series. When it launches with Android 12, I wonder if future Android versions of the phone will ever be updated.

Vivo v23 Pro Battery and charging

  • Get 70% charge back in half an hour
  • Generous battery life
  • No wireless charging
Battery life is another area where the V23 Pro won't break any records, but it has too much power for most users.
Here is enough for a 4300 mAh cell phone to run smoothly for one day of everyday use, and lighter users will probably find it stretching even to the end of the second day.

The supplied 44 W charger was enough to return 70% of that battery in my test in half an hour of charging – even faster than the 63% advertised by Vivo.  Sadly, wireless charging is not supported, but this is typical for such a price.
